How to Promote Your Affiliate Links: A Practical Guide for Beginners

In this tutorial, we will first choose a product and then get an affiliate link to promote. Later we will set up a simple landing page. And then we will show you how to promote your affiliate link even if you don’t have a website.

Getting Your Affiliate Link to Promote

To start building our affiliate campaign we first need to choose the product we are going to promote and then get the affiliate link. Now, as you already know, there are many good affiliate programs available online from where we can choose a product to promote.

We are going to promote a digital product as an affiliate, for this demonstration. We have already explained the main differences between the digital product and physical product affiliate programs in our previous article. You can check it out if you want to learn more.

The affiliate platform from where we are going to choose a product to promote is called ClickBank. Again, we have already written a detailed article titled the ClickBank affiliate marketing guide. You can read that guide to learn more about ClickBank.

Choosing an Affiliate Product and Creating Affiliate Link

To get started, let’s visit the ClickBank website first and then log in to our account. Once inside, we need to visit the ‘ClickBank MarketPlace’ to choose a product to promote.

On the next page, we can see all the different categories available inside the ClickBank marketplace from where we can choose products to promote. All these categories are arranged in alphabetical order for easy reference.

The product we will be promoting for this demo is called EZ Battery Reconditioning. It is a top-selling product in the ‘Green Products’ category on ClickBank. As you can see in the picture below, we are being offered an affiliate commission of 76% for promoting this product.

That means we can earn an affiliate commission of up to $37 on the front end, if a person purchases this product. $37 per sale is a good start for a beginner affiliate. Also, the affiliate resources section for this product is one of the best on ClickBank.

They have a ton of promotional tools in their resources section which any affiliate can use to promote their product.

As a beginner affiliate marketer, this is one of the things you should always keep in mind. Always look for a product that has a great affiliate tools and resources page. It’s going to make your job a lot easier.

Now to get our affiliate link to promote, all we need to do is click on the ‘Promote’ button. Here is an example.

Once you click the promote button, a new window pops up. Now to generate our affiliate link, we need to click on the ‘Generate HOPLink’ button.

We just need to copy this affiliate link and save it. This is the affiliate link we will be promoting in this campaign.

Building a Landing Page

Even if you don’t have a website we suggest you at least build a landing page to promote your affiliate offer. You should never send your visitors directly to a sales page. At least, that’s what we believe in.

Now there are many ways to build a landing page without a website. You can use a service like ClickFunnels or LeadPages. ClickFunnels is very costly software. So we will leave that out for now.

LeadPages is a good platform to build high converting landing pages. We regularly use LeadPages in our business. You can read our LeadPages review if interested. But it too costs $25/month if you sign up for the yearly plan.

We are going to use some of the promo materials available in the product’s affiliate resources section to create our landing page. Let’s do this.

Here is the landing page we just created for the EZ Battery reconditioning campaign. As this is a demonstration, we have created a simple landing page.

You can get all fancy when creating a landing page for your campaign if you want to. But please remember that simple landing pages convert better. This is the landing page we created.

The landing page we created contains a catchy title, a video, and a call to action button along with a countdown timer. The CTA button has the affiliate link inserted. We got the video from the product’s affiliate resources section. Now, this is the page we are going to promote.

How to Promote Affiliate Links without a Website
