This policy explains what SmartWebpreneur.com collects about you, why, and what you can do about it. Questions: admin@smartwebpreneur.com.
What we collect
- If you subscribe: your email address, and your name if you give it.
- If you email us: your address and whatever you write.
- If you comment: the name, email and comment you submit.
- Automatically, on every visit: IP address, browser and device type, pages viewed, how long you stayed, and the site or search that sent you.
We do not collect payment card details. We never see them — purchases happen on other companies’ platforms.
Services that process data for us
These are the third parties actually running on this site. Each has its own privacy policy.
- WPX Cloud — hosting. Keeps standard server logs including IP addresses.
- Jetpack (Automattic) — visitor statistics: pages, referrers, approximate location.
- Kit (formerly ConvertKit) — email list. Stores your address and records whether emails are opened and links clicked.
- Thrive Leads — the sign-up forms on this site.
- Pretty Links — records clicks on our short links, including IP address, referrer and browser.
- MalCare — security. Logs login attempts and suspicious requests.
- Affiliate networks — including ClickBank, PayKickStart, Vidello and others. When you click an affiliate link, that network sets a cookie so any purchase is credited to us.
Cookies
Cookies are small files stored by your browser. This site uses them to keep the site working, to measure traffic, and — when you click an affiliate link — to credit a resulting purchase to us. That affiliate cookie is set by the network, not by us, and typically lasts from a few days to a few months.
You can block or delete cookies in your browser settings. Blocking them will not stop you reading anything here.
Why we process your data
- Consent — sending you email. You opted in and can opt out at any time.
- Legitimate interests — keeping the site secure, understanding which articles are read, and tracking affiliate referrals so we get paid for them.
- Legal obligation — where we must keep records.
We do not sell your data. We do not share your email with anyone except the services above that need it to function.
How long we keep it
Email addresses are kept until you unsubscribe or ask us to delete them. Comments and their metadata are kept indefinitely so follow-up replies make sense. Analytics and click data are retained by the services above according to their own schedules.
Your rights
Wherever you live, you can ask us to show you what data we hold about you, correct it, delete it, or stop using it — and you can unsubscribe from any email using the link in its footer.
If you are in the UK or European Economic Area, the GDPR also gives you the right to object to processing based on legitimate interests, to request your data in a portable format, and to complain to your national data protection authority. Email admin@smartwebpreneur.com and we will respond within one month.
Where your data goes
The services above are based in various countries, including the United States, so your data may be transferred outside your own. Those providers rely on their own safeguards, such as Standard Contractual Clauses, for these transfers.
Children
This site is not aimed at children under 16 and we do not knowingly collect their data. If you believe a child has given us information, email us and we will delete it.
Changes
When this policy changes we update the date at the top. The version published here is the one that applies.
