Privacy Policy

This policy explains what SmartWebpreneur.com collects about you, why, and what you can do about it. The site is run by Vishwanath Naik, a sole proprietorship in Karnataka, India, who is responsible for your data. Questions: admin@smartwebpreneur.com.

What we collect

  • If you subscribe: your email address, and your name if you give it.
  • If you buy something: your name, email address, country, what you bought, the amount, the date, and the last four digits and brand of your card. We need these to deliver your order, give you support, handle refunds and keep the tax records the law requires.
  • If you email us: your address and whatever you write.
  • If you comment: the name, email and comment you submit.
  • Automatically, on every visit: IP address, browser and device type, pages viewed, how long you stayed, and the site or search that sent you.

We never see or store your full card number. It goes straight from your browser to the payment company below.

Services that process data for us

These are the third parties actually involved. Each has its own privacy policy.

  • Stripe: payments on our own checkout. Stripe collects your card details and uses them to take the payment and to prevent fraud.
  • Gumroad and Payhip: some products are sold through these platforms. When you buy there, they collect your payment and order details under their own policies and share your name, email and order with us.
  • WPX Cloud: hosting. Keeps standard server logs including IP addresses.
  • Jetpack (Automattic): visitor statistics: pages, referrers, approximate location.
  • Our email list: we run our own mailing list software and send email through Brevo. It stores your address and records whether emails are opened and links clicked.
  • Thrive Leads: the sign-up forms on this site.
  • Our link tool: records clicks on our short links, including IP address, referrer and browser. It runs on our own site; nothing is sent to an outside company.
  • MalCare: security. Logs login attempts and suspicious requests.
  • Affiliate networks, including ClickBank, PayKickstart, Vidello and others. When you click an affiliate link, that network sets a cookie so any purchase is credited to us.

Cookies

Cookies are small files stored by your browser. This site uses them to keep the site working, to measure traffic, and, when you click an affiliate link, to credit a resulting purchase to us. That affiliate cookie is set by the network, not by us, and typically lasts from a few days to a few months. Stripe also sets cookies on its checkout to prevent fraud.

You can block or delete cookies in your browser settings. Blocking them will not stop you reading anything here, though a checkout may not work without them.

Why we process your data

  • Contract: delivering what you bought and supporting you afterwards.
  • Consent: sending you email. You opted in and can opt out at any time.
  • Legitimate interests: keeping the site secure, preventing fraud, understanding which articles are read, and tracking affiliate referrals so we get paid for them.
  • Legal obligation: keeping invoices and payment records as Indian tax and foreign-exchange rules require.

We do not sell your data. We do not share it with anyone except the services above that need it to function, or an authority that is legally entitled to it.

How we share it

  • Who receives it: only the services listed above, each for the single job described there, and a government or court authority if Indian law requires us to hand it over.
  • How it is passed on: automatically and encrypted (HTTPS/TLS), through each service’s own secure connection. Card details go directly from your browser to Stripe and never pass through our site. We do not email, print or hand over customer lists.
  • What they may do with it: each service may use your data only to provide its service to us, under its own privacy policy and data-processing terms.

How long we keep it

Email addresses are kept until you unsubscribe or ask us to delete them. Purchase records are kept for 8 years, because Indian tax law requires it. Comments and their metadata are kept indefinitely so follow-up replies make sense. Analytics and click data are retained by the services above according to their own schedules.

How we keep it safe

We follow reasonable security practices as required by India’s Information Technology Act, 2000 and its rules on sensitive personal data:

  • Every page of this site, and every checkout, is served over an encrypted HTTPS connection.
  • Card payments are handled entirely by Stripe, which is certified to PCI DSS Level 1, the highest standard in the card industry. We never store card numbers.
  • The site is protected by our host’s firewall and by MalCare security monitoring, and is kept up to date.
  • Only the site owner can access customer and subscriber records, and every account that holds them is password-protected.
  • If a breach ever put your data at risk, we would tell you and the relevant authorities as the law requires.

Your rights

Wherever you live, you can ask us to show you what data we hold about you, correct it, delete it, or stop using it, and you can unsubscribe from any email using the link in its footer. We may have to keep purchase records for the legal period above even if you ask us to delete them.

If you are in the UK or European Economic Area, the GDPR also gives you the right to object to processing based on legitimate interests, to request your data in a portable format, and to complain to your national data protection authority. If you are in India, the Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023 gives you similar rights. Email admin@smartwebpreneur.com and we will respond within one month.

Where your data goes

The services above are based in various countries, including the United States and India, so your data may be transferred outside your own. Those providers rely on their own safeguards, such as Standard Contractual Clauses, for these transfers.

Children

This site is not aimed at children under 18 and we do not knowingly collect their data or sell to them. If you believe a child has given us information, email us and we will delete it.

Changes

When this policy changes we update the date at the top. The version published here is the one that applies.
