Blog to eBook: How to Turn a Blog Post into an eBook or PDF Easily

As a blogger, you already know the importance of having a content-rich blog. You already know that bloggers need to post new content regularly on their websites/blogs to stay on top of their game. And that’s why you have already created a ton of great content for your blog.

But if you’re like most bloggers, most of the content you created never gets seen because it can eventually get buried under newer pages and posts. And that’s a shame — because you want your work to be read. But with so many blog posts and articles out there, it can be hard to get people to notice your stuff.

If that’s the case, don’t worry. I have got a solution for you. And that is to turn your blog posts into eBooks and downloadable PDFs.

Why Turn Blog Posts into eBooks and PDFs?

I am sure you already know what eBooks are. They are digital books that you can download to read on your computer, phone, or tablet. You can also read them on a Kindle, Nook, or any other eReader device. You can even print off the eBook for reading it later offline.

Ebooks are more than just another content marketing asset. They are a powerful way to establish and build your credibility as an expert in your field. At the same time, they offer you the opportunity to distribute your content to a wider audience and bring in more leads, traffic, and customers.

Creating an eBook from a blog post not only extends the life of the blog post, but it also adds value to your business. Here are a few reasons why you should convert your blog posts into en eBook.

To Increase Engagement and Build an Email List

Just as you want to attract new customers and grow your business, you also want to continuously engage your current readers. And one way to do that is by converting your blog content into an eBook, which you can then distribute to your subscribers.

This is a great way to pull people back into your site and to get them to purchase your products and services. E-books are also a great way to build an email list because people need to provide their email addresses to receive or download the eBook, if you are giving it away for free.

Not All Readers Are The Same

Your readers have different preferences and don’t all learn the same way. Some people like to read blog posts, some like to read them like eBooks on their devices, others prefer watching videos, and some like to listen to podcasts. If you want to give your audience the most value, then creating an eBook is a great way to do that.

Make Money

One of the easiest ways to earn money from your blog is to repurpose your existing blog content into an eBook and then sell it.

If you’ve been blogging for a while, you’ve probably got more than a few posts that are very popular with your audience. These are some of your best posts and are the ones that your audience really resonates with. This is why turning them into an eBook is a great way to make more money.

You can do this either by packaging a series of blog posts together or by creating original blog posts for the eBook.

Blog to Book – This Is The Tool I Use

Now let me show you the tool I use to easily convert my blog posts into downloadable eBooks and PDFs. And the tool is called ‘Designrr’. Designrr is an online tool using which we can create beautiful eBooks and attractive lead magnets from one or more web pages.

Thanks to the Designrr, you can now present your content in a way that makes it more accessible to readers. Designrr does all the hard work, removing all the clutter such as sidebars, social icons, navigation, and adverts, leaving you with pure, clean content. Just like that!

With the help of this handy tool, your content will be presented in a professional and engaging way, offering your readers a smoother and better-looking reading experience.

You can check out Designrr from here.

Now let’s see how easy it is to turn a blog post into an eBook or PDF within minutes using Designrr.

Turn Blog Post into eBook Using Designrr

Now, I am going to walk you through creating your first ebook from a blog post. I will use one of our blog posts as an example. It will take you less than five minutes to create your ebook, which can then be downloaded and shared.

Importing the Content

To begin the process of converting our blog post into a book we need to import the content into the Designrr interface.

To import content, all we need is the blog post URL which we want to turn into an eBook. Before importing the content, we need to make sure that the content on the blog post is completed, formatted, spell-checked and is published (we can edit it inside Designrr as well).

[Before importing the content, please remember that you are only allowed to fetch the URL of your own blog or website. Meaning, use the content you own. Don’t just take others blog posts without their permission and use them in your eBook. You will have to face legal actions if you do so.]

Now to import the content, let’s click on the ‘New Project’ button.

I have access to the ‘standard’ version of Designrr, which is why some of the modules are locked, as you can see in the image below.

If you want access to all the modules, like creating an eBook from a video, turning a PDF into an eBook, turning a podcast into an eBook, and so on, then we will have to upgrade our account to either ‘Pro’ or ‘Premium’.

import blog post

As you can see, I have different options to create an eBook or my lead magnet. I can use my blog post, or the Google doc file, or a Word document to create an eBook. I can also make an eBook from my FaceBook posts and pages.

For this demo, let us choose the first option, which is to ‘import from blog post or URL’ and move to the next step.

On the next page, we need to enter the URL of the blog post which we want to turn into an eBook. Just enter the URL, add the appropriate tag for the eBook and click on ‘fetch’.

fetch the page

Once we fetch the page, this is what we see.

Once we do that, if the URL is fetched properly, we can see a preview of the page we just fetched.

Now, let’s choose relevant tags for the eBook we are creating. This will help ‘Designrr’ to personalize the templates and the artwork for our eBook, depending on our niche.

Now, click on ‘Next’ to continue.

In the next stage, we need to pick a template for our eBook. Based on the ‘Tags’ we added earlier, the Designrr software will suggest templates for us. There are more than 100 eBook templates for us to choose from.

ebook templates

If you want to explore the templates available in the other categories, just click on the ‘All’ categories button on the top.

We can preview each of the templates in the catalogue.

Don’t get hung up on choosing the perfect template for your eBook. You can easily change your template later if you don’t like what you already have.

Once we choose a template and click on ‘Next’, our project will automatically open up in the Designrr editor.

Editing the Ebook Design

We can edit most of the elements of our eBook in the Designrr editor. We can change the template, change the eBook cover, change the font, colour and so on.

eBook Cover

We can either choose to use the default eBook cover image that comes with the template or can choose to change the cover image. To change the eBook cover, we just need to click on the ‘set cover image’ icon on the top section.

Once we click on that, the ‘Media Manager’  will open up.

From the Media Manager, we can upload our own images using the ‘Upload Images’ button on the right. We can also search from thousands of images in any niche using the ‘search’ feature.

The PRO plans and Premium plans also include some pre-made cover images which can be accessed from the ‘cover images’ section (third tab in the image above). We can also enter an image URL from anywhere on the web and use it as our eBook cover.

Editing Various Elements

We can edit the different elements of the eBook easily inside the Designrr app.

For example, to edit the header and footer of the eBook, we just need to click on the coloured area. Doing this will bring out the associated container box. On the left side, we can see the editor box from where we can edit the different elements inside the chosen part of the eBook.

We can edit the background, border, text, shadow, colour and more.

Similarly, we can edit the other parts of the eBook.

Page Numbering

The Designrr eBook creation tool automatically numbers the pages of the eBook or the other documents you create. However, we also have the option to turn off the pagination completely, if we don’t want to use them.

page numbering

To turn OFF page numbering inside Designrr, we need to go to the ‘Settings’ and then expand the ‘Page Numbering’ tab. From there, we can use the toggle button to turn on or turn off page numbering.

Table of Content

To add the ‘Table of Content’ to the eBook, go to ‘Elements’, then ‘Components’, and drag and drop the ‘Table Of Content’ element to our page.

Adding Table of Content

There are different styles of TOC available. We can choose the one we like and click on ‘save’ to make it active.

Publishing the eBook

Once the eBook is ready we can click on the ‘Publish’ button to export the eBook.

publishing the ebook

As a standard user, I can only publish the eBook in PDF. If you are an advanced user, you can publish your eBook for Amazon Kindle, for other e-readers and for web browsers. Once you choose the desired format, which in our case is PDF, click on the ‘Export’ button to publish the eBook.

published eBook

The published eBook can be downloaded on our device. We also get the ‘Flipbook’ version of this eBook which is hosted on Designrr servers.

And that’s how to turn a blog post into an eBook easily.

What To Do With Your eBook?

Now that you’ve created your eBook, it’s time to put it to work for you. There are mainly two ways to go about it. You can either give away the eBook for free in return for subscriber’s email address or sell the eBook for profit. You can sell it on your website or different online platforms.

Building Your Email List

You can offer a free eBook as an opt-in incentive to build your email list. Research has shown that offering people something of value for free increases your chances of getting them to subscribe to your list.

The idea behind this strategy is that you’re giving away a valuable asset (in this case, an eBook) in exchange for the email address of a willing person. Here, the eBook will act as the ‘lead magnet’.

Give away the PDF version of your eBook on your website and then ask people to sign up to your mailing list to get it. Once you have people’s email addresses, you can then start to market to them.

When you’re thinking about giving away your eBook to people, it’s important to consider how you’re going to collect the leads of people interested in the book. And for that, you will need to create a landing page on your website to promote your eBook.

A landing page is a website designed for a specific campaign that will lead people to a single goal. Here’s how to create a landing page on a WordPress website.

Sell Your eBook for Profit

You can also sell your eBook and make money. The most important thing is to get your eBook out there and to promote it. Promote it on your website, promote it on Twitter and Facebook, and promote it to your newsletter subscribers.

There are many ways to sell your eBook. You can do it via your own website or blog, you can list it on Amazon, you can list it on Barnes and Noble and so on. You can also sell it on multiple platforms at a time.

You can also sell your eBook on a website like Clickbank or another affiliate network, or you can sell it to your own email list.

Don’t just rely on people finding you in their search engine results. Get in touch with other bloggers in your niche and offer them a free copy of your eBook in exchange for them including a link to it on their website or promoting it to their email subscribers.

Conclusion

It can be a lot of hard work to put together a blog post and then have it go nowhere. Do you want to be one of those bloggers who have hundreds of great posts that will never see the light of day? Of course, not.

I’m a big fan of turning your blog posts into an eBook because it helps you take all the content you’ve produced on your blog and turn it into something that people can easily consume in a single sitting. As mentioned above, it’s a great way to make money and build your email list. It’s also a great marketing tool when you’re trying to get more people to visit your blog.

Creating eBooks from the blog posts is also an effective way to increase your online presence and build authority in your niche. Also, you can reach a wider audience of readers by publishing your ebook on a platform like Amazon Kindle.

The moral of the story is that whether you are just starting out with your blog or simply want to give your archives a boost, turning your blog posts into an ebook is a great way to generate new revenue and audience engagement. It is a great way to get your name out there and make some money while doing it.
