I used to be a dentist

For more than a decade, I was the person you visited to get your teeth looked at. In 2015 I stopped.

It wasn’t a bad career. It paid well and I was good at it. But I kept having the feeling that I was in the wrong room — and it turns out that feeling doesn’t go away on its own. So I put down the drill and went into digital marketing with no plan beyond working it out as I went.

What I found was that I genuinely liked the work: buying tools, pushing them until they broke, and figuring out which ones were worth the money. Ten years later that is still most of what I do.

What I do here

I test AI tools — video generators, animation software, voiceover engines, image generators, page builders, email platforms — and use them on real work rather than a five-minute demo. Then I write up what held up and what didn’t.

I’ve been publishing here since 2017, and I run the SmartWebpreneur channel on YouTube, where I show the same workflows end to end.

How I work

  • I pay for what I review. If I haven’t used a tool on something real, I don’t write about it.
  • I say when something stops being worth it. Tools get worse, prices change, and better options turn up. A review that never changes its mind isn’t a review.
  • Affiliate links are marked. Many links here earn me a commission at no extra cost to you. That’s how the site pays for the tools I buy — but it has never decided a verdict.
